Get your wild heart racing with one of Kentucky's most exciting outdoor adventures: a whitewater rafting trip on the Cumberland River. Whether you're looking for a fun family outing or a more adrenaline-filled ride, there's an option for every level of adventure.
Out guided raft tours are perfect for families, groups, beginners, and anyone looking to cool off on a summer day or take on the river in a solo inflatable "ducky" for a more independent experience. Your adventure begins at Sheltowee Trace Adventure Resort before launching just below Cumberland Falls, where you'll enjoy a rare view of the falls from the river.
As you make your way downstream, you'll tackle exciting Class III rapids with memorable names like Center Rock and Surfer's Rapid while taking in the natural beauty of the Cumberland River. Midway through the journey, board the Cumberland Star Riverboat for a relaxing five-mile cruise and a buffet-style lunch before continuing to the take-out point. A shuttle ride back to the resort completes this unforgettable full-day experience.
For thrill seekers, duckies offer an extra level of excitement. These solo inflatable boats travel alongside the guided rafting trip, giving paddlers the freedom to navigate the rapids on their own. While guides are nearby if you happen to flip, it's up to you to safely steer your ducky down the river. Duckies are available only when river conditions and water levels permit.
